What is ABA?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based therapy that helps children build meaningful skills and reduce behaviors that interfere with learning and daily life.
At OnPointe ABA, therapy is personalized, compassionate, and engaging, supporting real-world learning so children can thrive beyond the session.
We use evidence-based techniques in ways that feel natural, fun, and engaging.

Common ABA Teaching Techniques
Here are just a few of the research-based strategies we use in our sessions:
Discrete Trial Training (DTT)

A structured teaching method that breaks down skills into small, manageable steps. Each step is taught with clear instructions, prompts, and positive reinforcement. Contrary to popular opinion, DTT can be run anywhere! It is not just for table time.

Reinforcement

We ALWAYS celebrate progress! When your child succeeds, they receive positive feedback or rewards to strengthen the behavior. Just like everyone else, we only work if it is worth it.
Natural Environmental Training
(NET)

The best kind of learning happens during play, daily routines, or real-life activities. For example, a child might learn to request a snack during snack time or practice colors while coloring.

Prompting

We provide just enough help to encourage success and gradually reduce support as your child becomes more independent.
Chaining

Complex skills (like brushing teeth or getting dressed) are broken down into smaller steps. We teach each step one at a time, using either forward or backward chaining until the full task is mastered.

Visual Supports

Visual supports use pictures, symbols, or written cues to help children understand routines, expectations, and choices. These tools can reduce frustration, increase independence, and support communication—especially for children who benefit from visual learning.
